LiftStar™ LS1000 Liftstation Unit

The LiftStar™ LS1000 provides complete wireless monitoring for wastewater lift pump stations.  Capable of monitoring Simplex, Duplex, and Triplex pump stations, the LS1000 is designed to be used with underground "can" style stations, submersible pump stations, and above ground stations.

Complete Wireless Station Monitoring

The LiftStar LS1000 has been designed to monitor your complete lift pump station and report station status and pump information to  CrosStar's Secure Central Computer System through the standard cellular telephone system.

The following alarm and warning conditions can be monitored and generated by the LiftStar LS1000:

  • Power Failure
  • Station Entry
  • Pump Run and Failure
  • Low Pump Efficiency
  • High Wet Well Level
  • Low Wet Well Level¹
  • Dry Well Flood¹
  • Phase Failure¹
  • Pump High Temp¹
  • Pump Seal Failure¹
  • Bubbler Failure
  • Alternator Failure
  • High Station Flow
  • Generator Run and Failure
  •
    ¹ Denotes re-assignable input.

Each alarm point can individually be set to one of four priority levels or be disabled completely.  Built in time delays on each alarm input prevent false and nuisance notifications.

When a high priority alarm becomes active, the current On-Duty utility personnel will be notified via their pager, digital cell phone, or text messaging device.  Optionally, the utility supervisor can also be notify.  The alarm notification can be acknowledged by either sending a text-message/e-mail reply to CrosStar's Central Computer System, or from the Utility's web site.  If an acknowledge has not been received within a set period of time, the notification is resent.  If the alarm condition is still not acknowledge, the system will then try notifying alternate utility personnel.

    Station Security

The LS1000 has incorporated in its design an advance Station Entry/Intrusion Alarm system.  During normal working hours, any station entry is logged as an operational status on the central computer system to allow utility personnel access to the station without setting off nuisance alarms. If the station has been opened longer than a settable time period (default is 30 minutes), then an alarm is generated indicating the possibility of the utility personnel is injured (man down alarm).  During non-work hours, the station entry operates as an Intrusion alarm, with a short time delay (30 seconds default).

The normal work hours for the Station Security System can be set to 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM Local Time Monday through Fridays, 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM Local Time Monday through Saturdays, 24 hours a day-7 days per week, or Intrusion Alarm only.

A standard commercial security system arm/disarm key switch or key pad can be mounted on the lift station and wired to the LS1000 to allow entry in to the station during non-working hour without setting off an alarm.

Pump Starts & Run Time Reporting

For each pump, and the LS1000 counts the number of times the pump has started and the length of run time as a standard feature. If a power backup generator is part of the station, its number of starts and run time is also tracked.  Pump run times are recorded in hundredths of an hour to provide better pump run time resolution, especially to low volume stations.

Once per week the LS1000 reports the accumulated number of starts and run times for each pump to the central computer system. The central computer system stores this information in a historical database and at the end of each month creates a monthly pump usage report for the station.  Generator starts and run time (if available) and station entries are also stored in the historical database and include on the reports.   Reports are generated as Microsoft Excel™ spreadsheets and include column summarys (totals, minimums, maximums, and averages), plus daily starts and run times of each pump displayed graphically on a bar chart for the week or month time period.   Click here to display an example of a Duplex Lift Station Monthly Report.

Optionally, the LS1000 can be configured to report pump starts and run time on a daily basic, with the central computer system providing Weekly and Monthly reports listing daily figures.

Also optionally for use in duplex underground "can" stations, the third pump run input can be connected to the dry well sump pump controlling float so the LS1000 can also report sump pump starts and run time.

    Intelligent Station Profiling

During the first few weeks after installation, the LS1000 learns the operating profile of your lift pump station.  Information like normal length of run of pumps per pump cycle, range of time between pump cycles, and other factors are determined and stored.  After the profiling time period, the LS1000 constantly compares the current pump operations to the original profile.  When a pump operation starts to falls outside the learned profile, the LS1000 signals a warning, if the operation continuously exceeds the profit, an alarm is generated and sent. Warnings and alarms generated by LiftStar's Intelligent Station Profiling are:

  • Pump Failure
  • Pump Low Efficiency
  • High Station Flow
  • Alternator Failure
  •

    Flexible Mounting

With its NEMA 4X enclosure, the LS1000 can be mounted either with in the control cabinet or outside.  An optional opaque front is available allowing the LS1000 to be mounted on the outside of above ground exposed control panels typically used with submersible pumps stations.  With the optional external antenna, the LS1000 can be mounted inside the control panel, or next to the control panel in an underground "can" station.

    Built-in Uninterruptible Power Supply

The design of the LiftStar LS1000 incorporates an uninterruptible power supply featuring a bounce-less power transfer switch, automatic battery charger, and standard eight (8) hours of operation battery.  Power to the critical sensors, like the Entry, and High Wet Well and Dry Well Floats, are maintained by the LS1000's battery during a power fail so important station statuses can still be monitored during the outage.  The LS1000 will even let you know when its battery is getting low in power.

An optional external battery kit is also available to extend the power failure operation capacity of the LS1000 to over 48 hours (2 days).
