CrosStar's StarView Software Package
The CrosStar StarView Software Package provides local Alarm notification, Event Log Printing, and Display Graphics to any Internet connected Microsoft Windows™ based computer. StarView provides the complete feel and features of expensive Human-Machine-Interface (HMI) software without the high purchase price or maintenance costs.
Alarm Notification
When a new unacknowledged alarm comes into the system, the display of the StarView is automatically switched to display the list of current alarms, with the new entry at the top of the list. Also the StarView software package will cause the computer to beep or play a sound file to alert anyone around that a new alarm needs to be looked at. The new alarm can be easily acknowledge by approved personnel, stopping the alert sound.
Event Log Printing
With a Dot-Matrix Line Printer connected to the computer that StarView is installed on, StarView will print a continuous event log on fan-fold paper. The event log provides an accurate printed record of the sequence and time problems occured in your system allowing your personnel to easily see what went wrong in your system when problems happen.
And you do not need to leave the computer with the Event Log Printer powered up and connected to the Internet around the clock. When StarView reconnects to the CrosStar Secure Central computer, any missed event log entries are sent to to StarView and printed as if the unit was on-line all the time.
Graphic Displays
Standard graphical displays for most types of remote stations are available to display each station's information. The displayed information includes the current status of all the monitored alarm points graphically, and the last received information like pump start counts and pump run times.
Also the overview display can be upgraded from a list of remote stations to a map of your utility's service area with pin-dots indicating placement and status of each remote station. Mouse clicking on a station's pin-dot will bring up the dedicated display page for that remote station.
Automatic Software Upgrades
Every time StarView connects to the CrosStar Secure Central Computer by the Internet, StarView compares its current software version with the latest available. If CrosStar has made a new version, StarView automatically downloads the new version so the next time StarView is started, the new version is used. This is a free service from CrosStar to your utility. We just want you to have the best CrosStar has to offer.
StarView Software License
Unlike most software packages that limit you to installing the software on only one computer per purchased copy, the StarView Software Package is supplied with an "Enterprise" software license which allows you to install StarView on any number of computers associated your utility. CrosStar even allows your utility's personnel to install StarView on their home computers so they can easily monitor the collection system.
Multiple Concurrent Access
CrosStar's Secure Central Computer allows up to five separate StarView connections at the same time as standard with the Utility with StarView Monthly Rate. Thus, any location that requires the additional features StarView provides can be running StarView at the same time. You and your personnel are not limited to just one computer or location. And remember that the full Internet access of Utility is still available while running StarView.
Computer System Requirements:
Each computer that StarView is installed on should be a Pentium Style Computer with minimum of 32 MB RAM and 5 MB Hard Disk available running Windows95b, Windows98, WindowsME, WindowsNT 4.0 (SP5), Windows2000, or WindowsXP. Each computer also is required to have Internet service (not AOL!), with at least a 28.8 Kbaud connection, available. A second IEEE-1284 printer port may be required if using the optional Event Log Printer.
